The Des Moines Public Library began as the Des Moines Library Association in 1866 in the basement of the Fifth Street Methodist Church (today known as First United Methodist Church). In its early years, the library was supported by contributions and public charity. By 1882, finances had been precarious for several years, and it was decided to turn the library over to the city for establishment of a free public library. After much discussion and contention, the city purchased riverfront property in 1898 for $35,000. This is the site of the former Main Library building at 100 Locust Street. The cornerstone for the building was laid in 1900, and the building, constructed of salmon pink Minnesota limestone, was opened in October, 1903.

1. NO RETURNS FOR BUYER’S REMORSE
Under Iowa law and applicable UCC provisions, the Monarch Shoppe does not accept returns or exchanges for:
• Buyer’s remorse
• Incorrect size, color, or style selection
• Preference-based dissatisfaction
2. DAMAGED, DEFECTIVE, OR INCORRECT ITEMS
If your item arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, you must notify us within SEVEN (7) DAYS of delivery.
To submit a claim, email kate@kateshuconsulting.com with:
• Order number
• Clear photographic evidence of the issue
• Brief description of the defect
Approved claims will result, at our sole discretion, in either:
(a) a replacement, or
(b) a refund to the original payment method.
3. SHIPPING & ADDRESS ERRORS
Customers are solely responsible for providing accurate shipping information.
Orders returned due to incorrect addresses, refused delivery, or unclaimed shipments are not refundable.
4. LIMITATION OF REMEDIES
To the fullest extent permitted by Iowa law, the remedies described in this policy are your exclusive remedies.
